So you might remember that my view is that UC solutions should be interesting and varied.
This is not just about increasing adoption but also the recognition that many people work on the move, at desks and in meetings and this requires different solutions.
UC suppliers love to demonstrate video calls running on Smartphones – FVC included.
In many way this is surely what everyone wants – audio, video (one and two way) and data ANYWHERE.
But it would be wrong to say this is the ONLY solution that is required - do you really want to your CEO to carry a selfie-stick, plus a headset ?
What about a just having video calls on laptops ?
Not bad and much loved by technical people but again are you going to have everyone use headsets – do you really want to use a laptop solution in a meeting room ?
It the same as saying you could try and write a four page report on a smart phone or even an Ipad but most people are going to want to use a keyboard.
Different locations and different meeting formats really demand different technologies.
I recommend that you talk to suppliers who really understand this.
